Why We Love Natural Light Photography | Vancouver Newborn Photographer

When choosing a photographer, asking yourself what type of lighting they use is important. Lighting has a lot to do with how your images will look and what style they’ll represent. We love natural lighting for our newborn sessions not only because it’s conducive to in-home sessions, but because it provides depth, texture and feeling to your images, so we can capture these special moments for you as authentically as possible.

Ambient light is diffused light that creates beautiful and natural highlights/shadowing, this adds texture to your images instead of flat artificial lighting. With ambient lighting, rays of light travel in random directions as opposed to in similar directions. This is why natural lighting gives your images a soft, airy and organic feel.

For maternity photography, we find that natural light is perfect for creating those romantic and feminine images for in-home sessions. For newborn photography, we find that not only is natural lighting beautiful but safe as well. Less equipment everywhere, and no flash to disturb your little one. It creates a peaceful, calm and nurturing environment for us to capture your new bundle of joy from the comfort of your own home.
