Best Newborn Photos of the Year

We specialize in newborn photography and offer sessions in-home with our mobile studio, as well as at our natural light studio in South Surrey, BC. While there were too many newborn sessions and amazing baby photos to showcase them all, here are some of our favourite newborn photos of the year. From cozy in-home newborn photo shoots, to light an airy baby sessions at our natural light studio in South Surrey, we were able to capture so many beautiful newborns and families! Cute expressions, sleepy poses, curled up tight in mom and dad’s arms, we were able to capture the feeling and love of the arrival of so many bundles of joy this year!

Smiles All Around

Although we typically try to help baby settle to sleep for newborn photos, occasionally we’ll get a baby who has no interest in sleeping and is perfectly content this way. This baby blew us away with his expressive eyes, and his brother made this moment even more precious with his shy but excited participation in the family photos. We just love how this photo is cropped in tightly on this family, to emphasize their closeness as a family and to show the kids’ expressions up close.

Squish

Their puffy cheeks, pouty lips, and chubby rolls are the most precious features we see on newborns that we just love to capture. This is why just partially wrap and pose them in a way that shows off how curly and squishy they are. This baby naturally made this face, and we were lucky enough to capture it at the right moment!

New Baby Brother

These little girls were genuinely beyond excited to have a little brother, and it shows so much in this photo! Look how the younger one is delicately stroking his head?

Hands and Feet and Hands

We love a classic black-and-white backlit profile of baby, and what do we love even more? When the parents’ hands are cradling baby, to really emphasize how tiny those little hands and feet are.

Fur Siblings

We get a lot of dogs, and sometimes cats, involved in the family newborn photos. But bunnies? This wasn’t actually the first time we had some floppy eared friends join a photo shoot of ours, and we just love how they add that extra bit of snuggliness to this cozy photo.

Pure Happiness

We’re in love with the all-white look for these photos, taken at our natural light studio in South Surrey. There’s just something about the purity of white and their genuinely happy smiles as they look at each other here. We just happen to know this beautiful new mom personally, so that makes the photos extra special!

Double the Newborn Bliss

This twins’ mama wanted the most natural, comfortable looking photos of her babies, showing off their natural skin textures and not overly stiff or staged looking. We created a look with messy sheets and let them hold each other close.. and we happened to catch a smile from the one closer to the camera!

Sun Kissed Profile

We love working with natural light because we can get the most gentle yet vibrant backlit photos of baby’s tiny details. This little one’s button nose and perfect profile was illuminated so perfectly with some sunlight pouring.

His Whole World

The moment his baby, only two weeks old, looked straight into his eyes, we had to capture it! We hoped this would happen as we settled her onto our beanbag poser and had him lean down to look at her… so were thrilled when it came to fruition.

Little Piggies

We are obsessed with capturing babies’ little toes, and so many of our clients request this photo specifically. We believe there is a right way to do it that utilizes the light and parents’ hands, to highlight the curves of those tiny toes as they curl naturally around mom or dad’s thumbs.

A Mother’s Love

The way the sun was streaming in gave us the perfect opportunity for a side profile of mom nuzzling her baby. The nuzzling photo was adorable, but the moment right before it even more beautiful. You can just feel the love from this tender moment.

RCMP Baby

This is actually the third baby of an RCMP officer we have photographed! Each time, we try to find a cute way to pay tribute to this part of their lives. We love how baby is basically the same size as dad’s Stetson hat.

His Whole World - Again

The dads really stood out in the newborn photos this year! Again we had a family bring their baby to our natural light studio, and the natural light backlit them just perfectly for this nose-to-nose moment.

Warmed Our Hearts

For this December newborn session, we used warm earth tones and textures to really lend to the cozy vibe of the season. These parents were just the sweetest, so genuinely thrilled to be parents and their baby looked so content in this moment.
