Must-Have Nursery Décor | Baby Room Ideas | by Felicia Bates l Vancouver, BC
An exciting part of waiting for your little ones arrival is decorating your nursery. Whether you’ve got months or weeks until your new bundle of joy arrives, it's a a wonderful way to personalize and create a safe and comfortable space for you and baby. For inspiration on nursery décor, check out some of my favourite items that look great in any nursery!
Owner and friend, Yuka of Lily and Lyla, creates the most amazing pieces that are made locally right here in BC. Known for her sweet rainbow fibre art pieces that are simply gorgeous, not only are these handmade with love, they can be customized to match any nursery theme. Bonus: while you’re shopping, check out her macramé earrings and pick up a treat for yourself too. You can feel great knowing you are supporting small business, and a local female-led company.
If you’re like me and have tons of white walls to fill, then decals are a fun and great way to add color, pattern or a theme to your nursery. I decided to use a combination of black and gold triangle decals from Wayfair for one of my nursery walls and it was surprisingly easy to put up and made a huge impact on the room. Wayfair has tons of different patterns and images for any theme and if you ever want to remove them they peel off easily without any damage to your walls!
Etsy is a great place to look for nursery décor, you can find so many handmade and custom items from a variety of small businesses. I am in love with all the fun and whimsical felt mobiles sold by various businesses, not only are they soft and safe, but they are gorgeous in any nursery. Whether you like pompoms, clouds, moon and stars, whales or other animals for a mobile, Etsy has so many styles for you to choose from.
A staple in décor is good lighting, and there are tons of playful lamps and nightlights for any nursery theme. I have always loved arrows and foxes so this Bailey Lamp from Westcoast Kids was perfect for my daughters room. Her room is very neutral in colors: grey, white, cream, with hints of gold and black so adding in some fun pieces helps to tie everything together.
