Must-Have Books for Toddler Girls | by Felicia Bates l Vancouver, BC

When it comes to children’s books there are SO MANY out there, how do you choose? Well, now that my home has been turned into a children’s library (literally books everywhere), I’ve come across some amazing books that I’d like to share with you. Reading is something that I love to do with my daughter and books never seem to get old. There’s always something new to discover and reading together with my 2-year-old makes for some great bonding time and lots of snuggles while we’re at it. If you’re looking for some children’s books and gift ideas, check out my top 3 must-have books that are geared towards toddler girls.

Title: Love

Author: Corrinne Averiss

This book about love is a beautiful story that shows us how we are all connected by love no matter where we are. It uses love strings to show us how love can form between two people and that when we leave a place the love we left behind stays, it touches upon love for those that have passed away and emphasizes that no matter what happens to our love it can never truly be broken, and highlights the love between mother and daughter. The book itself is a gorgeous hard cover and the illustrations are modern (ex. tattoos on the mom) and artistic. This one absolutely touched my heart, and my daughter and I love reading it. It is a very special book that I highly recommend, and a beautiful and heartwarming story that you don’t want to miss!

Title: What We’ll Build: Plans For Our Together Future

Author: Oliver Jeffers

This book is about a Father and Daughter and the adventures they will go through together in life. Through their adventures they discover the importance of resilience, love, forgiveness, and hope.

The illustrations are also done by the Author as well (amazing right?), they are stunning, playful and there is always something new to discover each time we read it. This book is an absolute must-have for any father-daughter duo. The illustration of the daughter's tiny hands compared to her fathers in the beginning and end of the book pull on your heart strings and bring you back to the realization of how quickly our children grow. This is a beautiful book that you need in your home!

Title: I Am Enough

Author: Grace Byers

This book may seem simple but it's a really great book for young girls for several reasons; beyond the diversity and inclusiveness in the illustrations, the underlying message is an easy one for a toddler to understand and really resonated with me as a female and mother. I love the use of the words of affirmation throughout and message of self-worth. Hearing my daughter read this book along with me is incredible, can you imagine your 2-year-old saying, “I Am Enough”. Building that inner self-talk and confidence at any early age is so important and this book is a great one to start with!
