We are celebrating my daughter Violet’s 1st birthday by FINALLY sharing the beautiful newborn photos Dani took in our home last year! This is proof that even me, as a photographer, took way too long to pick which photos to print and share. The light was very dark in our place by the time we got our act together for photos, and my 4 year-old wanting nothing to do with the photos… but somehow Dani worked her magic and pulled it off! I actually love the look of graininess due to low light in photos, as I think it adds to the feeling somehow. Perhaps I should have taken my own advice and scheduled an earlier time of the day, but in the end it all worked out, and you’d never guess from the photos that there was anything other than full cooperation. Dani you’re a hero!

I can’t believe how much has changed in a year. This sleeping nugget has now turned into a walking, babbling little human with a personality of her own. This is why I think newborn photos are so special. There is only a fleeting time in their lives that they are these sleeping, tiny creatures snuggled in our arms.
