Feel-Good Books to Start the New Year | Written by Felicia Bates

The New Year is a time of reflection and self-care, and always invokes that feeling of a fresh start. It’s a time when many detox, rest and work to bring their bodies and minds into balance. Through calm and care, it’s a good time to stay home, enjoy the downtime, and recharge for the year ahead. Part of my relaxation ritual is to read. I mean it’s OPRAH, so you know it’s going to be good. This is an easy and quick read with inspiration on every page with a reminder to relish the moment. It talks about your choices and intentions, and having the courage to seek out your dreams. The New Year is a time of reflection and gratitude, and this is a perfect read chalk full of positivity and quotes, and is definitely one to cleanse the soul.

2) The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

This simple, enchanting and timeless story is one I have read many times over the years. This book is all about finding your “Personal Legend” through the journey of life and teaches us to pursue our dreams regardless of any hurdles. It always transports me to another place as I follow along on the journey of the main character. This book is made to inspire passion!

3) The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse - Charlie Mackesy

A story of beautiful truths, and one you can share with your kids! The whimsical hand drawn illustrations and handwritten pages make this book so charming. It highlights themes of kindness, friendship, encouragement and love. It’s an incredibly wholesome and heartwarming read.

4) Daily Inspiration From The Monk That Sold His Ferrari - Robin Sharma

We all could use some daily inspiration! This book has a daily read for every day of the year and can be read over and over. This book teaches us to live with simplicity, kindness and authenticity. If you’re looking for a great way to start or end your day, this is a great one page a day read full of inspiration and wisdom.
